I like the way
The lamplight shines on your face;
The flickers casting shadows,
The light chasing them away.
It makes me feel secure
Sitting and talking and laughing with you.
There is darkness all around us
Yet we are in the light.
Our friendship, like the flame:
Warm, reassuring, comforting.
Lighting the way
As we sit here and bare our souls
I feel as if I’ve always known you
And even if we should ever part
We must return.
We must be reunited.
